The Education Ministry plans to hold roadshows throughout the country starting next year in order to gather feedback for the proposed school curriculum for 2027, according to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek. The roadshows will explore new elements such as character education, flexibility, and digital aspects. Fadhlina stated that this initiative is closely linked to the future of education, as mentioned in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s Budget 2024 speech. The purpose of the roadshow is to ensure the success of the future of education, and it will involve various stakeholders in the education sector, Fadhlina told the media after the Institute of Teachers Education (IPG) convocation ceremony on Sunday (Oct 22).
Fadhlina welcomes input and participation from all levels of society in the development of the new national curriculum. She also mentioned that the Education Ministry will propose a comprehensive education framework and a new curriculum that will consider global factors and policies in shaping the character of citizens. The plan will prioritize the development of teacher competence and the marketability of individuals in the employment field both locally and internationally.
During the convocation ceremony, Fadhlina emphasized the importance for teachers to adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators, as outlined in the Malaysian Teacher Standard 2.0. This will serve as a reference for upholding the image, dignity, status, morality, and personality of teachers. She urged teachers to live and practice all ethical principles of the teaching profession in order to maintain the dignity of the profession and be a positive example to all.
The 13th KPM IPG Convocation Ceremony, which began on that day, involves 5,725 graduates who have completed their studies and teacher training at 27 campus IPGs and English Language Teaching Centres. – Bernama
