KUALA LUMPUR: The standard operating procedure (SOP) for maintaining school sports facilities will be enhanced in order to ensure no accidents occur within school premises, according to Fadhlina Sidek (pic).

The Education Minister stated that her ministry will also ensure that the State Education Department, the District Education Office, and schools regularly inspect all sports infrastructure, and that school grounds are safe for students.

“School administrators should consistently remind students to remain vigilant when participating in activities outside of class,” she stated in a post on her Facebook account on Saturday (Sept 30).

Fadhlina also expressed her condolences to the family of an 11-year-old student who died after being hit by a goal post crossbar during a co-curricular activity at Sekolah Kebangsaan St Anthony in Bintulu, Sarawak, on Friday (Sept 29).

“The Education Ministry, in collaboration with the State Education Department, will provide assistance to the victim’s family,” she mentioned.
