Astro kicked off the new season of English football with a bang by organizing a viewing party for customers and fans. The event took place at Piazza, Pavilion Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur, where spectators gathered to watch the Charity Shield showdown between Premier League champions Manchester City and Arsenal.
The highlight of the event was the presence of ex-Arsenal, Barcelona, and Netherlands international footballer Giovanni van Bronckhorst. Fans had the opportunity to meet and greet him, as well as interact with Liga Malaysia players from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur football clubs. Additionally, presenter Adam Carruthers hosted a live pre-and-post-match show at the venue, featuring Gary Stevens and van Bronckhorst.
As for the league season itself, it commenced in the early hours of the morning (Malaysian time) with City taking on Burnley. City, who suffered a penalty shootout defeat to Arsenal at London’s Wembley Stadium the previous weekend, were eager to bounce back in their opening league game against the newly promoted side.
One of the most anticipated matches of the weekend is the clash between struggling giants Chelsea and Liverpool. The game is set to take place at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, and fans are looking forward to witnessing an exciting encounter between these two renowned clubs.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have a game scheduled against Nottingham Forest today. The Gunners will be aiming for a victory in order to maintain a strong start to their campaign.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will be facing Wolves on Monday night. Both teams are hoping to secure a positive result and get their season off to a flying start.
