A group of six men, including a security guard, have been apprehended for stealing compressed raw materials utilized in the production of semiconductors. The theft occurred at an electronics factory situated on Jalan Lapangan Terbang on September 14, as revealed by Ipoh Officer-in-Charge of Police District (OCPD), Assistant Commissioner Yahaya Hassan.

The 40-year-old suspect, who also worked at the factory, orchestrated the robbery by allowing his acquaintances entry into the premises. Furthermore, they restrained the on-duty security guard with cables before absconding in a vehicle. The stolen materials have an estimated value of RM180,000.

The apprehension of the suspects took place across several locations in Ipoh, Selangor, and Penang between September 20 and 21. ACP Yahaya disclosed that the perpetrator with a previous criminal record was the prime suspect, whereas the stolen items were discovered at his cousin’s residence in Bercham.

With the exception of the 27-year-old suspect, all others had prior criminal records. Additionally, the 47-year-old suspect tested positive for drugs. The arrested individuals will remain in police custody until September 26.
