KLANG: The Selangor police force is requesting for better equipment and gadgets to ensure they stay ahead of potential terrorists. They recently participated in a special field training exercise at North Port, which included simulations of a terrorist attack and hostage rescue. Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan expressed satisfaction with the initial observations, stating that his personnel and other agencies performed well during the simulation. However, he believes that the effectiveness of the force can be enhanced with more advanced technology and equipment.
Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, speaking to reporters after the training exercise, emphasized the need for more advanced technology and gadgets to keep up with evolving threats. He mentioned that the security forces and the terrorists are constantly learning, which necessitates staying one step ahead. Communications and drones are areas that require attention, as the enemies can use jammers to disable communications. Finding alternatives to overcome this challenge is crucial.
Furthermore, Comm Datuk Baharuddin Ahmad, the National Security Council deputy director general (strategic security), stated that similar training exercises have been conducted on offshore oil rigs in the past. He also mentioned plans for conducting another exercise in the city center to test the capabilities and response of the security forces in the event of an attack.
