SHAH ALAM: Two laboratories were dismantled and five syndicates were crippled in a large-scale anti-narcotics operation conducted by Selangor police. The operation led to the seizure of over RM12.8mil worth of drugs.
Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi, the deputy police chief of Selangor, stated that the seizures were the result of a series of raids carried out between Sept 8 and Sunday (Sept 17).
“The raids were conducted by police from Bukit Aman, Selangor, and Bukit Puchong Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) in Shah Alam, Kajang, Subang Jaya, Petaling Jaya, Sepang, and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA),” she said. Fourteen suspects, aged between 21 and 42, including 11 locals and three foreigners, were arrested during the raids.
The seized drugs include RM3.5mil worth of heroin oil, RM6,017 worth of heroin, RM4.8mil worth of methamphetamine oil, RM839,652 worth of methamphetamines, RM56,839 worth of ganja, RM2.7mil worth of ketamine, and RM854,000 worth of cocaine,” she revealed during a media conference on Tuesday (Sept 19).
It is estimated that the confiscated drugs could have been used by approximately 1.94 million drug users if they had made it onto the streets.
DCP Sasikala Devi added that these syndicates had been active since early this year. All suspects have been remanded for seven days to assist in the ongoing investigations.
