In preparation for Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the Selangor Road Transport Department (JPJ) is deploying 382 officers and members to ensure compliance with traffic rules. The special operation will run from April 1 to 20 to facilitate a smooth journey for road users returning to their hometowns.

Azrin Borhan, the director of Selangor JPJ, emphasized the importance of this operation in maintaining road safety and the smooth operation of public transport services. During this period, heightened patrols and monitoring will focus on main roads and accident-prone locations.

Stringent enforcement measures will target nine major offences, including speeding, disregarding red lights, using mobile devices while driving, queue-cutting, and driving in the emergency lane. Additionally, technical inspections of buses at depots will be conducted to prioritize safety.

Azrin elaborated on these efforts during a press conference, highlighting the significance of maintaining road safety during festive seasons. He also mentioned the necessity of ensuring the proper documentation and licenses for vehicles to avoid penalties.

He further shared updates from a recent roadblock operation at the PJS 2 Toll Plaza on the New Pantai Expressway, where 497 motorcycles were inspected. As a result, 340 summonses were issued for various offences, along with notices for vehicle use prohibition and inspection orders.

Offences such as driving without a valid or expired license, lacking proper vehicle documentation, and absence of insurance coverage were among those detected during the inspections. Azrin emphasized the importance of adhering to regulations to maintain road safety standards.

The official enforcement efforts aim to enhance road safety awareness and reduce traffic violations during the festive period. With a focus on ensuring compliance with traffic rules, Selangor JPJ is committed to facilitating a safe and smooth travel experience for road users.
