Sultan Sharafuddin Urges Selangor Muslims to Avoid Sins of Backbiting and False Accusations

On July 21, Sultan Sharafuddin of Selangor delivered a Friday sermon, appealing to Muslims in the state to be mindful of their actions and avoid engaging in the sins of backbiting and insulting others. Emphasizing the gravity of the matter, His Majesty also warned against the dangers of slandering and making false accusations, stating that these actions are among the seven major sins and are considered more significant than murder.

The Sultan has been persistent in advising Muslims to steer clear of such reprehensible behavior. Expressing concern, he highlighted that failure to curb these divisive practices could lead to a severe and uncontrollable rift among Muslims, particularly within the state of Selangor.

Earlier, in a royal address on June 19 during the dissolution of the state assembly, the Sultan addressed the issue of race, religion, and royal institutions, urging that these sensitive topics should not be used as subjects of debate during election campaigns to prevent any potential racial or religious disharmony.

Referring to the Federal Constitution, the Sultan reaffirmed that Islam is the religion of the federation and is protected, unchallengeable by any party. As the head of religion in their respective states, the Raja and Sultan must be respected and adhered to, as long as they remain obedient to Allah SWT. They serve as the guardians, offering protection and guidance to all the people under their patronage.

The Sultan’s call for unity and harmony within the Muslim community comes as a vital reminder for the citizens of Selangor to practice mutual respect, refrain from slanderous behavior, and uphold the values of their faith. By following these teachings, the hope is to foster a stronger sense of solidarity among Muslims and to promote a peaceful and united society in Selangor and beyond.
