KUALA SELANGOR: Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, the ruler of Selangor, officially opened Masjid At-Tuqo in Kampung Sungai Sireh, Tanjong Karang on Thursday (March 21).
Accompanied by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, Sultan Sharafuddin arrived at the mosque at 6.30pm and was greeted by Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and State Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim.
Also in attendance were Dr. Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, committee chairman for state Islamic affairs and cultural innovation, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, chairman of the Selangor Islamic Religious Council, and Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, director of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department.
During the event, Sultan Sharafuddin joined the locals in breaking their fast and distributed Hari Raya contributions amounting to RM233,000 to 466 individuals in need, including the poor and converts from Kuala Selangor.
He proceeded to deliver a speech to commemorate the inauguration of the mosque and concluded the event by signing the inauguration plaque.
Originally constructed in 1950, Masjid At-Tuqo has undergone several renovations over the years and can now accommodate up to 800 worshippers, catering to the residents of Kampung Ampangan and Kampung Haji Razali.
Sultan Sharafuddin also participated in the Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers with the congregation. – Bernama
