PETALING JAYA: Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin expressed their sympathies to the family of former High Court Judge Tan Sri Dr Visu Sinnadurai, who passed away at the age of 79 on Sunday (Oct 15).
The late Visu had been a close acquaintance of the Selangor Ruler since the 1980s, and throughout his life and tenure as a judge, he consistently emphasized the importance of the Rule of Law, according to a statement posted on the Selangor Royal Office Facebook page.
“Tuanku Sultan described the deceased as very knowledgeable and expert in the field of law.
His Majesty was also often attracted by his openness in providing insightful opinions and views related to the judiciary and current affairs,” said the Royal Office on Tuesday (Oct 15).
As a recognition of the late Visu’s dedicated service, His Majesty awarded him the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor in 2005.
The late Visu was also renowned as an eminent academician, serving as a former senior legal expert at the World Bank, an adjunct professor of comparative law at the Universiti Malaya, and one of the primary organizers of the Sultan Azlan Shah Lectures series.
In addition, he played a crucial role in the publication of the book on the Law of Contract.
