KLANG: The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, has urged the new state government to promptly address the concerns of the people, particularly in terms of infrastructure and development.

Sultan Sharafuddin emphasized the importance of the state government taking immediate action to address various issues, particularly the frequent floods in Selangor that have been causing difficulties for the people. He shared his exhaustion with politics and expressed his desire to restore Selangor to its former glory days.

The Sultan stressed the urgency for short, medium, and long-term plans to be implemented to mitigate the impact of floods and other challenges faced by the people. This call was made during a ceremony at Balairung Seri, Istana Alam Shah, where Sultan Sharafuddin presented letters of appointment to the Mentri Besar and state executive council (Exco).

Furthermore, the Sultan urged the assemblymen to actively investigate the status of planned and ongoing development projects by visiting the affected areas.

Present at the ceremony were Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, and the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah. Sultan Sharafuddin questioned the significance of Selangor’s rapid economic progress, its status as a wealthy state, and its highest GDP in Malaysia if the basic needs of the people are not being adequately addressed.

Highlighting that Selangor has fallen behind Penang, Johor, and even Sarawak in terms of investment and export value of goods, the Sultan emphasized the need for immediate action to rectify this situation and safeguard Selangor’s reputation as a major contributor to the Malaysian economy.
