Assistance has been sought from a senior citizen in Johor Baru to address the issue of a viral video depicting a car driving against traffic.
Asst Comm Balveer Singh, the Johor Baru North OCPD, confirmed the arrest of a 75-year-old woman on Friday (March 1) at approximately 4.11pm.
“A 13-second clip on X has been identified, showing a grey vehicle driving counter to the flow of traffic.
“Subsequently, we have taken into custody a 75-year-old woman for further inquiries,” he stated in a release issued in Johor Baru on Friday.
He mentioned that investigations are being conducted under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a penalty of up to five years in prison and a fine of RM5,000 to RM15,000 if found guilty.
“We advise the public to not speculate and to let the police handle the situation,” he added.
The incident captured in the video has been circulating on social media platforms, showing a car moving against traffic with its emergency lights activated.
