A male counselling teacher at a primary school in Seremban has been arrested on suspicion of physically sexually assaulting his students. The 43-year-old suspect was apprehended after the school’s headmaster filed a complaint. A seven-day remand order was granted by a Magistrate’s Court in Seremban on Tuesday, Dec 12 for the suspect’s detention.
ACP Arifai Tarawe, the police chief in Seremban, has confirmed that the suspect is in custody to aid in the ongoing investigation. There are reports alleging that the suspect also sent pornographic materials to the victims, and such content was discovered on his phone. However, the number of victims affected has not been disclosed at this time.
The case is being probed under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017.
