KUALA LUMPUR: The Sessions Court here is fixing Sept 27 for mention in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s RM232.5mil graft case linked to the Jana Wibawa scandal.

Judge Azura Alwi set the date after Muhyiddin’s lawyer, Chetan Jethwani, informed the court that the Court of Appeal had rescheduled the date to deliver its decision in Muhyiddin’s application to review the appellate court’s decision to reinstate his four criminal charges.

The appellate court had previously set Aug 20 as the decision date on the revision application, but the date has been pushed to Sept 11.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin appeared for the prosecution in the proceedings here on Friday (Aug 30).

Muhyiddin is seeking leave to review a previous Court of Appeal panel’s decision to reinstate the four power abuse charges.

He is appealing the entirety of the decision made by Justices Hadhariah Syed Ismail, Azmi Ariffin and SM Komathy Suppiah.

On Feb 28, the panel allowed the prosecution to reinstate four power abuse charges and ordered the case to be remitted to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court.

Muhyiddin was discharged and acquitted (DNA) by the High Court judge Justice Muhammad Jamil Hussin, who found that the four charges against the Pagoh MP were defective, unsubstantiated and vague.

Muhyiddin, 76, was charged with using his position as the then prime minister and Bersatu president to obtain bribes amounting to RM232.5mil from three companies: Bukhary Equity Sdn Bhd, Nepturis Sdn Bhd and Mamfor Sdn Bhd, and also from one Datuk Azman Yusoff, for the party.
