A mob in Sungai Chalit, Sungai Ruan in Raub reportedly beat a Myanmar man to death on Tuesday (Aug 23), according to Pahang police chief Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman.
The police received this information from a representative of the Myanmar ethnic organisation (MEO) on Wednesday (Aug 24) at around 6.48pm.
The MEO representative also stated that the victim’s brother had called him and informed him that his younger brother was assaulted by multiple men at the location. The victim sought treatment at Raub Hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries around 8.56pm on Aug 23.
The hospital’s medical officer conducted a preliminary examination and confirmed that the 32-year-old victim had died due to bleeding in the head.
As a result of the incident, the police conducted intelligence and arrested seven men between the ages of 22 and 42 on Aug 24.
In a statement issued on Aug 25, the police chief mentioned that the seven men have been remanded for seven days starting from today to assist in the investigation. They are being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
