    Several areas in Sarawak record 'unhealthy' air quality as of 7pm on Sept 28

    Several areas in Sarawak recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings on Thursday (Sept 28).

    Data from the Environment Department’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS) showed Sri Aman, Samarahan and IPD Serian recorded API readings of 102, 152 and 159 respectively as of 4pm.

    As at 7pm, API readings in Samarahan and IPD Serian dropped slightly to 151 and 158 with Sri Aman recording a moderate API reading of 97.

    The three areas had recorded unhealthy API readings since 5am on Thursday morning.

    Unhealthy API readings are from 101 to 200, while moderate API readings are from 51 to 100.

    Tanjung Malim in Perak also recorded an API reading of 101 as of 7pm, putting it in the unhealthy category, with Tasek Ipoh also bordering unhealthy air quality with a reading of 96.

    In the Klang Valley, Cheras recorded an API reading of 96 while Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam had readings of 84 and 89 respectively as of 7pm.
