    Shah Alam flash floods: Internet users share images, videos of aftermath

    PETALING JAYA: Flash floods were reported in various areas of Shah Alam, mainly Section 13, on Wednesday (Aug 16) following a downpour.

    Footage posted on social media shows roads and vehicles being inundated by muddy rainwater although the rain seems to have abated.

    Voluntary efforts to extract vehicles from flooded areas are also underway by good samaritans around the Shah Alam stadium.

    In one of the videos, the voice of a man can be heard expressing frustration at several official-looking vehicles that passed by the area only to record without helping.

    “They’re just recording. Just record and that’s it.

    “We are currently trying to get cars and motorcycles out. That’s all we can do for now,” said the video posted by X (formerly known as Twitter) user @ZumieTGM.

    Flash floods hit multiple areas in Shah Alam, particularly Section 13, on Wednesday (Aug 16) after heavy rainfall. Videos shared on social media depict roads and vehicles submerged in muddy rainwater, even though the rain has subsided. In response, kind-hearted individuals around the Shah Alam stadium have initiated voluntary efforts to rescue vehicles from the flooded areas.

    One video captured the frustration of a man as he witnessed several vehicles that appeared to be official driving past the scene and only recording the situation without offering any assistance. “They’re just recording. Just record and that’s it,” the man expressed. Another Twitter user, @ZumieTGM, posted a video highlighting the ongoing vehicle extraction efforts, stating that the only thing they can do for now is to help remove cars and motorcycles from the flooded areas.
