PETALING JAYA: According to Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the Selangor Mentri Besar, the Shah Alam Stadium is set to be completely demolished by the middle of 2025. On Feb 6, he witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Selangor Mentri Besar (Incorporated) (MBI Selangor) and Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB), signaling the start of physical works after careful planning and due process.

The stadium demolition is expected to begin with hoarding installation, followed by dismantling of existing structures, taking place until mid-2025,” Amirudin said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 6).

The hoarding and preparation works will kick off on Wednesday (Feb 7) and will take three months, followed by the demolition of the structure. MRCB was appointed by the state government to redevelop the sports facility in Section 13, Shah Alam.

Amirudin also mentioned that the developer will communicate all mitigation measures to address the impact of the redevelopment to the local community as a part of their efforts. He emphasized the importance of adhering to standards set by state and local authorities and serving as a model that employs best practices, especially for infrastructure development of such scale.

Previously, plans were announced by the state government to demolish the Shah Alam Stadium and replace it with the state-of-the-art Shah Alam Sports Complex (SASC) on the same site. The entire project on a 69.53ha area would involve Shah Alam Stadium, Malawati Stadium, and others.
