PETALING JAYA: Umno Merbok Division’s Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin (pic) will contest Kedah’s Tanjung Dawai constituency in the upcoming state elections, says party secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki.
Party secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki announced that Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin from the Umno Merbok Division will be the candidate for Kedah’s Tanjung Dawai constituency in the upcoming state elections. This decision completes the total of 108 seats for Barisan Nasional, as they will field candidates in all six states.
“With the mandate from Barisan chairman, the candidate for N26 Tanjung Dawai, Kedah is Shaiful Hazizy,” stated Asyraf Wajdi on his Facebook page.
Asyraf also expressed his gratitude to Pakatan Harapan for giving way to Barisan in the Tanjung Dawai constituency.
The incumbent assemblyman for Tanjung Dawai, Kedah, is Hanafi Ghazali from Perikatan Nasional.
Last Friday, Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that Barisan will be fielding candidates in 15 seats in Kedah, 27 in Terengganu, 31 in Kelantan, six in Penang, 12 in Selangor, and 17 in Negri Sembilan.
