In PETALING JAYA, the company responsible for the shoe with a logo resembling the word “Allah” in Arabic script has issued an apology, clarifying that the graphic actually represents a stylised high-heeled shoe with straps.
Verns Holding Sdn Bhd expressed regret for any offense caused, particularly among Muslims.
“We did not intend to create a logo that would belittle or disrespect any religion or faith, and we desire an opportunity to explain its design,” stated the company on Sunday.
The statement continued, “Our management sincerely apologises to all affected and hopes to rectify this oversight.”
The company has taken immediate action to halt sales of the shoes in question and will provide refunds to customers who purchased them.

“This incident has reminded us of the importance of being meticulous in our decision-making process to prevent such occurrences in the future,” the company noted.
Verns Holdings emphasized that the logo was entirely inspired by the outline of a high-heeled shoe with straps.
“However, we acknowledge that there are errors in the design of the logo that could lead to misinterpretation and offend others,” the company added.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar has directed Jakim to summon all relevant parties involved in the controversy for clarification on Monday.
