PETALING JAYA: Shuttler Lee Zii Jia emerged victorious in the Arctic Open men’s singles event.
Lee Zii Jia, currently ranked 14th in the world, defeated his compatriot Ng Tze Yong, ranked 19th, with a score of 21-14, 21-15 in the final held at the Energia Arena in Vantaa, Finland on Sunday (Oct 15).
This triumph marks Lee Zii Jia’s first title win since claiming the Thailand Open championship in May 2022.
Despite the defeat, Ng Tze Yong can be proud of his achievement as he made it to his first-ever World Tour competition final.
Moreover, the journey of men’s doubles pair Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun concluded with a second-place finish.
The duo, ranked 23rd in the world, lost 18-21, 17-21 to the seventh-ranked Danish pair Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in the final match.
