PETALING JAYA: According to MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, the Silk Road and Asian Civilisation Forum held in Kuala Lumpur will strengthen Malaysia-China ties. In a Facebook post on Thursday (March 28), he emphasized that the Silk Road has historically symbolized peace and cooperation through economic, cultural, political, and religious interactions between East and West for centuries.
Dr Wee expressed his gratitude for being invited to the forum, highlighting its significance in enhancing interaction between Malaysia and China to foster mutual understanding. He described the event in Kuala Lumpur as a crucial platform for fortifying ties with Chinese counterparts.
The forum was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and graced by the presence of International Liaison Department Minister Liu Jianchao. Dr Wee extended his appreciation to the Malaysia Friends of Silk Road Club for organizing the event, in collaboration with strategic partners such as the Malaysia-China Friendship Association, China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia, and Federal Territory Youth Council. This initiative received support from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture as well as the Chinese Embassy.
