IPOH: In response to the recent incident at an entertainment outlet here, an order has been issued to reassign the six police personnel who were arrested, according to Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, the Perak police chief. This directive came from the top brass, emphasizing their zero tolerance for any abuses of power and integrity. “As the state police chief, I, along with the entire police force, will not compromise on such misconduct,” he stated during the launch of a blood donation programme in conjunction with the 216th Police Day at a local shopping mall on Wednesday (July 12).
During a joint raid by the police Integrity and Standards Compliance Department and the Perak Islamic Religious Department on Saturday (July 8), the six police personnel were apprehended at the entertainment outlet. They were allegedly partying with an Indonesian woman in a karaoke room. Furthermore, one of the officers, who is Muslim, was discovered consuming alcoholic beverages, while another tested positive for ganja.
Comm Mohd Yusri explained that the incident will be investigated by Bukit Aman and the state branch of the department. Once the investigations are concluded, appropriate action will be taken. “We are awaiting the results of the investigations,” he added.
Additionally, Comm Mohd Yusri addressed the ongoing investigations into the tragic incident where two siblings, aged eight and nine, drowned in a swimming pool here on February 26. The case is currently being examined under Section 31(1)(A) of the Child Act 2001 and as a sudden death report.
