ALOR SETAR: Heavy rain on Saturday (July 8) night triggered flash floods, affecting 20 houses in Yan. District Civil Defence (APM) officer, Leftenan Muhammad Zul Izzi Zulkifli, reported that the worst hit areas were Kampung Bukit Teroi and its surroundings. “Following six hours of heavy rain, several areas in Yan and Kampung Bukit Teroi were submerged,” Muhammad Zul Izzi stated. The downpour, which began at about 10pm, caused the water level at Sungai Gurun to rise to dangerous levels. To ensure safety, APM personnel in the area have been instructed to keep a close eye on the river water levels. Fortunately, the water level at Sungai Singkir in Kampung Singkir Genting remained normal. As of now, no temporary relief centre has been activated. Muhammad Zul Izzi advised villagers to remain vigilant due to the possibility of continuous rainfall and rising river levels.
