On Friday (Jan 19), a fire completely destroyed six houses at a village along Jalan Penampang-Tambunan in Kota Kinabalu.
Fortunately, there were no reported casualties from the incident.
After the Fire and Rescue Department received a report at 5.30pm, a team from the Penampang and Kota Kinabalu fire stations were dispatched to Kampung Timpoluon Babagon to address the blaze.
“The fire was brought under control at 7.24pm,” said a department spokesperson.
Separately, in the Sandakan district, a fire ignited at a motorcycle workshop located in the town centre.
The department was alerted at 6pm about the fire at the premises along Jalan Old Slipway.
“The workshop was 85% destroyed and eight motorcycles were completely burnt,” the spokesperson added. “No casualties were reported, and the fire was brought under control at 6.18pm. The operation ended at 7.15pm.”
