KUALA LUMPUR: The re-voting process for the Indonesian General Election (Pemilu 2024) in the entire Kuala Lumpur area, held at the World Trade Centre (WTC) on Sunday, was reported to have gone smoothly and without any incidents of unruliness, according to a source at the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur.

The source mentioned that approximately 6,000 voters showed up to participate in the re-voting process, although the actual number of voters will be officially confirmed by the KPU (General Election Commission), who are the organizers of the election re-voting process.

The voting center at WTC is recognized as the largest voting center for Indonesians located abroad, with voting through Mobile Ballot Boxes (KSKs) ideally intended to reach factories and workplaces but could not be conducted due to Sunday closures.

Furthermore, last-minute information from the KPU about the re-voting process resulted in many voters being unable to attend the WTC on that day, which is expected to impact the number of KSK ballot papers.

The re-voting process on Sunday included 22 polling stations and 120 KSKs, with even the Indonesian ambassador to Malaysia, Datuk Hermono participating in the voting procedure.

Prior to this, the Indonesian embassy had received an official notification from the Central Jakarta KPU to organize the re-voting process for the entire Kuala Lumpur area, as reported by Bernama.

Media coverage in Indonesia stated that the re-voting involved a total of 62,217 registered voters, with 42,372 individuals set to vote at the WTC and 19,845 individuals through KSKs in 120 different locations.
