As of 8pm on Saturday, traffic flow on several major highways in Malaysia was reported to be smooth in preparation for next week’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration. According to a spokesperson from the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), traffic at the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza (northbound) and Sungai Besi Toll Plaza (southbound) was under control. However, there was a slight increase in the number of vehicles at the Gombak Toll Plaza (East Coast-bound).
The spokesperson mentioned that while most highways were smooth-flowing, the southern part of the Peninsula experienced slower traffic due to the higher number of vehicles from Woodlands to the Sultan Iskandar Building CIQ in Johor. Despite the increased traffic volume at the Gombak Toll Plaza, the flow was still smooth, as reported to Bernama on Saturday.
Additionally, traffic flow at the KL-Karak Expressway (KLK) and East Coast Highway 1 (LPT1) and LPT2 was also reported to be smooth at that time. The spokesperson pointed out that at the Bentong Toll Plaza, traffic was starting to build up due to the increased number of vehicles. This congestion was estimated to stretch about 200 meters East Coast-bound.
According to the PLUS Traffic update on its X account, a stalled vehicle on the highway had caused slower traffic flow. The update warned drivers about a bus stalled at Kilometre 258.2 southbound from Port Dickson to Senawang, obstructing the left lane. Despite this obstruction, traffic was said to be under control, and drivers were advised to proceed with caution as they navigated through the affected area.
Overall, the traffic situation on major highways in Malaysia seemed to be manageable and smooth as preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration continued. While some areas experienced increased traffic volume, authorities were actively monitoring and managing the flow to ensure the safety and convenience of road users during this festive period.
Drivers were reminded to stay alert, follow traffic regulations, and exercise patience while traveling on highways to their destinations. With the cooperation of all road users and ongoing monitoring by the authorities, traffic flow was expected to remain relatively smooth in the lead-up to the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
As Malaysians prepared to celebrate this festive occasion with their loved ones, road safety and responsible driving remained key priorities to ensure a pleasant and enjoyable journey for all travelers. The Malaysian Highway Authority and relevant agencies would continue to monitor traffic conditions and provide updates to assist drivers in making informed decisions while on the road.
