As of 8am on Tuesday (April 9), traffic flow on several major highways in Kuala Lumpur was reported to be smooth, with no significant congestion observed. The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) confirmed that the traffic situation at key toll plazas such as Jalan Duta Toll Plaza (northbound), Sungai Besi Toll Plaza (southbound), and Gombak Toll Plaza (east coastbound) was under control.
Despite the current smooth traffic conditions, the LLM spokesperson anticipated an increase in the number of vehicles as people embark on last-minute journeys back to their hometowns. This could potentially lead to heavier traffic later in the day.
Reports indicated that traffic on major highways like the KL-Karak Highway (KLK), East Coast Expressway 1 (LPT1), LPT2, and West Coast Expressway (WCE) was also flowing smoothly this morning. While there were accidents reported in some areas along these highways, they have been promptly resolved to ensure minimal disruption to traffic.
Additionally, PLUS Trafik’s official X account announced the activation of SmartLane in various locations to further facilitate traffic flow. These locations include KM4.5 to KM1.9 southbound from Setia Tropika to Pasir Gudang, KM0.4 to KM6.0 northbound from Pandan to Kempas, and KM19 to KM27 between Senai and Kulai.
Overall, authorities are closely monitoring the traffic situation and taking necessary measures to prevent any potential congestion on the highways. Drivers are advised to remain cautious and abide by traffic regulations to ensure safe and efficient travel during this period.
