There was a flurry of activity at the Shah Alam Court Complex as police officers stood watch at the entrance of the premises on Tuesday (March 26).

Two companies along with their directors are set to face charges at the Shah Alam Sessions Court today regarding the sale of socks that featured the word “Allah”.

According to a statement by the Attorney-General’s Chamber (AGC) on Monday (March 25), the directors of KK Super Mart & Superstore Sdn Bhd will be charged under Section 298 of the Penal Code for deliberately hurting the religious sentiments of others.

Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai, the founder of KK Super Mart, and his wife Datin Seri Loh Siew Mui are among those expected to be charged.

The AGC also mentioned that the vendor Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd will face charges under Section 109 of the Penal Code for assisting in the alleged offence by supplying the socks to the convenience store chain.

The directors of KK Super Mart and the vendor will each face charges in separate courts for their respective alleged offences.
