An unemployed man killed his father by hitting him with a shovel due to constant insults and belittlement. The incident took place in their home at PJS10 around 12.30am on Saturday during a heated argument. Overwhelmed by emotions, the son grabbed a shovel and attacked his elderly father. He then covered the motionless victim with a curtain and placed him in a car. After driving about 2km, he left the body by the side of the road.
The police were notified of the incident around 2.15am on Saturday when several relatives realized that the elderly man was missing. They searched the area and found his remains by the roadside, as stated by OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid in a press conference. The suspect, in his 40s, was later arrested near Jalan PJS10/9A, Bandar Sunway, around 9.10am on the same day. He was found to have a previous criminal record for breaching trust and weapon possession. The suspect led the police to a house where they discovered a shovel believed to have been used in the crime. Additionally, a Perodua Kelisa car, suspected to have been used to transport the body, was also seized.
According to ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin, the murder was motivated by the continuous insults and harassment from the victim, who constantly urged the suspect to find a job and quit drinking. The suspect has been remanded for one week to assist with the ongoing investigation. Earlier reports described an elderly man found dead near a condominium in the PJS10 area. The victim, wrapped in a curtain, had head injuries, a broken left hand, and bruises on his chest.
