The Parliamentary Special Select Committee on Domestic Trade, Entrepreneurship, Cost of Living and Agriculture has recommended increasing the allocation for the Rahmah Sales Programme in 2024. The committee made this recommendation during their meeting on Tuesday, with the aim of alleviating the financial burden on more people. The committee further supports the Rahmah Menu Incentive Card initiative, which allows Rahmah Menu traders to purchase raw materials at a reduced price, hoping that it will encourage more traders to participate in the Rahmah Menu.

Moreover, the committee suggests that the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry engage more local traders in the Rahmah Sales programme. During the meeting, the ministry briefed the Special Select Committee on Domestic Trade, Entrepreneurship, Cost of Living and Agriculture about the Payung Rahmah programme. Present at the meeting were Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh and chairman of the select committee, Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah). Members of the committee, including Edwin Banta (GPS-Selangau), Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (GRS-Keningau), Manndzri Nasib (BN-Tenggara), Tan Kar Hing (PH-Gopeng), Hassan Abdul Karim (PH-Pasir Gudang), Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN-Hulu Terengganu), Datuk Muslimin Yahaya (PN-Sungai Besar), as well as representatives from the ministry, were also in attendance.

The committee expressed their gratitude to the late Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, former domestic trade and cost of living minister, for introducing the Payung Rahmah Programme. They hope that this program will continue in the future. Salahuddin passed away on July 23 due to a brain haemorrhage. – Bernama
