PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong commends a government backbencher for giving way to an Opposition MP during a parliamentary session. Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong was answering a question from Ahmad Johnie Zawawi (Igan-GPS) about the Malaysia Agreement 1963, and when it came to a second additional question, Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor allowed Datuk Mumtaz Md Nawi (Tumpat-PAS) to ask the question. However, after seeing the disappointed expression on Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal’s face (Semporna-Warisan), Mumtaz gave the opportunity to Shafie to ask the question, which was granted by the Deputy Speaker. Ayer Hitam MP Dr Wee highlighted this incident in a Facebook post.
According to Dr Wee, this is the first time that an Opposition MP voluntarily gave way to a government MP. He believes that this display of harmony should be an example to others.
