JOHOR BARU: A Sri Lankan national was killed after falling from his motorcycle and being run over by a vehicle at KM11 Jalan Johor Baru-Kota Tinggi.
Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said the incident occurred at 12.40am on Monday (July 15) when the victim was heading towards Kota Tinggi from the city centre.
“The victim, in his 30s, was riding in the middle of the road when he accidentally collided with another motorcycle in front of him.
“The collision caused him to fall off his motorcycle, and an oncoming car driven by a man in his 50s failed to evade the fallen victim and ran him over,” he said in a statement.
He added that the car was then hit from behind by another vehicle driven by a man also in his 30s.
“The victim, who worked as a car wash attendant, suffered a serious head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Meanwhile, the rider of the other motorcycle, a man in his 40s, sustained injuries to his hands, while both car drivers did not sustain any injuries.”
The investigation is being conducted under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act of 1987.
“The police are requesting any public witnesses who saw the incident to come forward to the Johor Baru South Traffic Police Station to share information,” he added.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, ACP Raub shared that the suspect who ran over a traffic policeman at KM3.6 Jalan Pantai towards Permas Jaya has been remanded for four days.
“The remand order was issued by Magistrate Nur Fatin Mohamad Farid from July 15 until July 18,” he said.
Earlier, a traffic policeman suffered a serious injury after being run over by a drunk driver when conducting traffic control at the location.
