KUALA LUMPUR: The police have arrested eight foreigners to assist in the investigation of the murder of three Sri Lankan men in a rented house in Jalan Perhentian Kampung Kovil Hilir, Sentul.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid (pic) stated that the suspects, aged between 20s and 40s, include the two primary Sri Lankan suspects who were detained last Monday (Sept 25) and the Sri Lankan couple who were arrested on the day of the incident (Sept 22).
Furthermore, three Sri Lankan men and a Pakistani man were detained at a terraced house in Petaling Jaya on Monday, suspected of harboring the two main suspects.
“The remand for the Sri Lankan couple has been extended until October 5th after it ended on September 29th.
“However, the husband passed away while in custody last Saturday (Sept 30), leaving a total of seven suspects still in custody to aid in the investigation,” he said during a press conference following the Back To School program at Victoria Institution on Monday (Oct 2).
“The two main suspects were apprehended after interrogating the three Sri Lankan men and the Pakistani man. Though their remand period ends today, the police will request an extension,” he added.
At 11pm on September 22nd, the police discovered three deceased men stacked in the storeroom of a shophouse on Jalan Perhentian in Kampung Kovil Hilir. The victims’ hands and feet were bound, and their heads were covered with plastic bags. Two of the victims were tenants at the premises, while the third was the son of the married couple.
Meanwhile, Allaudeen mentioned that the death of the suspect in custody will not impede the investigation as the case’s investigation papers are nearly completed and will be forwarded to the deputy public prosecutor this week.
“The investigation into the detainee’s death has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Unit on Deaths in Custody under the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department,” he disclosed.- Bernama
