FOR incumbent Kinrara (N30) assemblyman Ng Sze Han, winning the state seat by an even bigger majority means a greater responsibility as its elected representative.

In the Selangor election on Aug 12, the Pakatan Harapan candidate won the Kinrara constituency for the third time with a 54,535-vote majority.

He previously won Kinrara in the 2018 General Election with a 45,212-vote majority and the 2013 General Election with a 14,604-vote majority.

“Kinrara is the biggest state constituency in terms of number of registered voters in Malaysia, with 123,782 registered voters. It also has a very dense population,” said Ng, 52.

“So with a higher majority comes greater responsibilities. I hope to be able to achieve my goals for Kinrara within the next five years.”

He said there were several outstanding issues in Kinrara that needed close follow-ups.

“One is improving road accessibility and building missing links to address traffic congestion.

“A key concern is an alternative access from and to Jalan Pipit, which requires negotiations and approvals from highway and federal authorities,” said Ng.

“I have applied for additional funds under the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris) allocation to address issues of potholes and uneven road surfaces in Kinrara. The constituency received a RM4mil allocation this year, which is not enough.

“I also want to look into the upgrading and better management of resources of parks in Kinrara, especially the bigger ones frequented by more people.”

Besides infrastructure and greenery, Ng hopes to line up more community programmes to cater to people of all ages and to attract investors to make Kinrara a more sustainable constituency.

“If there are good, high-income jobs in Puchong, it could attract more youngsters to work here. So they can live, work and spend quality time at parks in Puchong,” he said after a walkabout to thank voters in Taman Wawasan Recreational Park on Sunday (Aug 13).

The Selangor DAP secretary squared off against Perikatan Nasional’s Wong Yong Kang for Kinrara in the Selangor election.
