    State polls: BN to contest over 100 seats, says Zahid

    PUTRAJAYA: Barisan Nasional, headed by its chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has announced that it will be contesting more than 100 seats in the upcoming six state elections. This move showcases the party’s determination to play a significant role in shaping the political landscape of Malaysia.

    When asked about the number of seats to be contested, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confidently stated, “Slightly more than 100.” The announcement of Barisan candidates is set to take place on July 21, creating anticipation among party members and supporters.

    Elaborating on the process, the Deputy Prime Minister mentioned that the seat distribution has been finalized. He added, “Insha-Allah, we will be announcing the candidates according to the constituencies we agreed upon. On that day, appointment letters will also be handed out.” This detail-oriented approach highlights the party’s meticulous planning and organization.

    Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi shared this news with reporters while attending the Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony between the South East Johor Development Authority (Kejora) and Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (Mardi) in Putrajaya on July 13. This occasion served as a platform for the Deputy Prime Minister to address important matters related to the upcoming elections.

    According to the Election Commission, the states of Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah are scheduled to hold elections on August 12. Nominations will take place on July 29, while early voting is set for August 8. As the dates draw near, political parties are intensifying their preparations and rallying their supporters.
