    State polls: Graduate flies from home from Manchester to vote

    PORT DICKSON: Immediately after landing at the Lumpur International Airport at 4.30pm on Saturday (Aug 12), A 22-year-old voter went straight to a voting centre in Sungai Nipah.

    Denise Yit took a flight home from Manchester, England just to cast her vote for the Chuah state seat in Negeri Sembilan.

    “My first stop after landing in Malaysia was the voting centre at SJKC Sungai Nipah.

    “I reached the centre at 5.36pm and was done by 5.40pm,” said Yit who recently graduated with a Masters degree in physiotherapy from Keele University.

    “I was one of the last few voters,” she said, adding this was her first time at a polling booth as she cast her vote via post for the 15th General Election in November last year.

    Denise is the daughter of Port Dickson MCA deputy chairman Kelvin Yit.

    Voting for the six states of Negri Sembilan, Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan, Terenganu closed at 6pm earlier Saturday. The vote counting process is underway.
