REMBAU: Trailers of water were sent to Kelantan during a recent joint military operation with the United States to avoid embarrassment, says Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
During a ceramah on Thursday (Aug 10) night in Senawang, the Defence Minister said that due to the constant water issues in the state, he had to send water to the joint operation that concluded on Aug 4 to avoid embarrassment on the world stage.
“We just concluded the Keris Strike Exercise, which saw soldiers from the United States coming together with our army in Kelantan for two weeks.
“I was forced to send trailers of mineral water because I was ashamed that if the Americans turned on the taps to brush their teeth, muddy water would have come out.
“Malu kita (we would be shamed). If it’s just one person, it’s fine but this would be Malaysia being shamed.
“I sebagai Menteri Pertahanan malu (As the Defence Minister, I was ashamed),” he said.
He added that Negri Sembilan must learn from this, adding that the state needs to be aligned with the Federal Government in order to have the necessary aid to build and grow.
He also said that it was pointless to be proud of “30 years not being in the Federal Government” when water issues had yet to be resolved.
