KOTA BARU: The new Kelantan mentri besar is expected to be sworn in this Tuesday (Aug 15).

PAS Kelantan state chief Datuk Ahmad Yakob said the name of the MB candidate would be discussed by the party leadership soon.

“We will discuss the new MB candidate either tonight (Aug 12) or tomorrow. God willing, the swearing-in ceremony will be held on Tuesday,” he said during a media conference at Medan Ilmu Tok Guru here on Saturday (Aug 12).

Previously, Kelantan PAS said it would submit three names to party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang for the latter to choose to be the next MB.

This is following an announcement by PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan on Friday (Aug 11) who said Ahmad Yakob and Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah would be replaced as MB and deputy MB respectively.

According to Ahmad Yakob, the MB selection would be decided by Abdul Hadi before the name was presented to the Sultan of Kelantan.

The appointment of a new Kelantan mentri besar is expected to happen this Tuesday, August 15th. PAS Kelantan state chief, Datuk Ahmad Yakob, mentioned that the discussion regarding the MB candidate will take place soon within the party leadership. He stated during a media conference at Medan Ilmu Tok Guru in Kota Baru on Saturday, August 12th, that the decision will be discussed either on the same day or the following day. He expressed hope that the swearing-in ceremony will be held on Tuesday.

In a previous statement, Kelantan PAS stated that three names will be submitted to party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang, who will have the final say in selecting the next MB. This follows an announcement made by PAS secretary-general, Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan, on Friday, August 11th, revealing that Ahmad Yakob and Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah will be replaced as MB and deputy MB respectively.

Ahmad Yakob further emphasized that the MB selection process will be determined by Abdul Hadi before the chosen name is presented to the Sultan of Kelantan.

The position of mentri besar, or chief minister, in a Malaysian state is crucial, as they hold significant jurisdiction in the state’s administration. The selection of a new MB in Kelantan is anticipated to bring about changes in the leadership and direction of the state.

Kelantan is located on the northeast coast of Peninsular Malaysia and is known for its conservative Islamic nature. PAS has historically held power in the state, making this leadership transition significant. The swearing-in ceremony of the new MB will mark a new chapter for Kelantan and the implementation of their political policies.

The exact candidate for the MB position is yet to be announced, but it will undoubtedly be a decision that will shape the future of Kelantan. The party leadership will deliberate on the matter and seek the input of PAS president Abdul Hadi. Once a decision is made, it will be presented to the Sultan, who has the final authority to appoint the new Kelantan mentri besar.

The new MB will have the responsibility of steering Kelantan through political, economic, and social challenges while upholding and promoting the values and interests of the state and its inhabitants.
