SHAH ALAM: In the upcoming election, the state Pakatan Harapan plans to use the slogan ‘Kita Selangor’, according to Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (pic). The slogan has been widely used in state government programs and initiatives since the Covid-19 pandemic began, carrying an important message for the Selangor people.

Amirudin Shari stated that new words will be added to the slogan to adapt it to the current election situation, while still maintaining the aspirations of a united Selangor people. He emphasized that ‘Kita Selangor’ reflects Pakatan’s experience and track record, which have been well-received by the people.

Since its introduction, the ‘Kita Selangor’ slogan has been used in various government events, programs, and initiatives. It was seen during the state-level National Day celebrations, aid packages, economic stimulus measures, and even printed on the back of the Selangor football team’s jersey in support of the Red Giants.

‘Kita Selangor Teguh Bersama’ was one example of a program that used the slogan in conjunction with the National Day celebration. Additionally, ‘Pakej Kita Selangor 2.0’ was introduced for economic-related activities, and the community-meeting tour program called ‘Jelajah Kita Selangor’ also used the same slogan.

Commenting on the rival slogan ‘Selangor Baru’ introduced by Perikatan Nasional, Amirudin Shari dismissed it as mere political propaganda. He expressed his belief that the tagline offered nothing substantial to the people of Selangor.

The Election Commission (SPR) has announced that the state elections in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Penang, Selangor, and Negeri Sembilan will take place simultaneously on Aug 12. The nomination for candidates will be on July 29, and early voting will be on Aug 8.

Before the dissolution of the State Assembly last June 23, the Pakatan Harapan coalition held 40 out of the 56 state seats in Selangor. The remaining seats were divided among various parties including BN, Bersatu, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), PAS, Pejuang, Warisan, and one independent representative. The seat in Batang Kali was declared vacant due to the elected representative’s prolonged absence from assembly sittings.
