PUTRAJAYA: The announcement of Pakatan Harapan’s candidates for the upcoming state elections is yet to have a confirmed date, according to Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the coalition’s secretary-general. Saifuddin Nasution mentioned that he has not been informed by Pakatan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding the announcement’s schedule. “Right now, I am focusing on handling all the administrative aspects of the elections. The chairman will decide whose name will be written on the letter of appointment for the election. However, what is certain is that the names of the candidates will be announced before July 29,” Saifuddin Nasution told reporters on Wednesday.

The Election Commission has already scheduled July 29 as the nomination day, with polling taking place on August 12. Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional, Pakatan’s partner in the unity government, will be announcing its list of candidates on July 21. This information was revealed by Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi after the unity government leadership consultative council meeting on Tuesday night (July 11).
