PETALING JAYA: In an exciting turn of events, Anthony Loke, the DAP secretary-general, has confirmed that the post of Penang chief minister will continue to belong to the DAP. As the unity government gears up for the upcoming state elections, Loke stated that the party will maintain its hold on the position of Penang’s chief minister.
The DAP, being an integral part of the unity government, has reached a consensus that Penang will remain under their leadership. Once the state government is formed, a leader from DAP will be nominated to be the chief minister of Penang,” Loke revealed during a forum held on Tuesday (July 11).
While the party is committed to retaining the chief minister post, Loke mentioned that the final decision on the candidate for the position, along with other state seats, is yet to be made. In the next few days, further discussions will take place to determine the suitable individuals for these key roles.
“In the next one or two weeks, we anticipate making official announcements regarding the candidates and our approach for the state elections. Our central executive committee will also convene a meeting soon to discuss our strategy,” Loke further added.
