SHAH ALAM: Shah Alam PKR deputy chief Najwan Halimi retains his N40 Kota Anggerik state seat after winning with a majority of 10,834 votes.

From the total 68,737 votes, Najwan received 38,470 votes.

The other contenders were Mohamed Sukri Omar (PN-PAS) who received 27,636 votes, and lawyer Azad Akbar Khan (Muda) received 2,631 votes.

Najwan expressed gratitude to the people for giving him the mandate for a second term and said that he would try to fulfill his manifesto.

“I will continue to look into improving the traffic flow in Shah Alam and the welfare of petty traders,” he said.

His family was among the supporters who were present to celebrate his win, after assistant returning officer Mohd Fauzi Aziz Maamor made the official announcement.

Some of his supporters of Indian descent also presented him with garlands.

In the 2018 state elections, Najwan won with a majority of 17,004 votes. He was up against Ahmad Dusuki Abd Rani (PAS) and Jumaeah Masdi (BN-Umno).
