SEREMBAN: The Prime Minister will decide which name to propose as mentri besar here, says Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun.

“I feel that there is no issue. We have not discussed the matter and it is for the Prime Minister to make the decision,” the caretaker Negri Sembilan mentri besar said after a victory rally at Klana Resort here Sunday (Aug 13) morning.

He also called the victory a sweet one.

“Before we were opponents but this was an opportunity that we had never dreamed of; to work as a team. We celebrate this as a team.

“The five seats that we lost we didn’t expect and they may be some things we have to do after a post mortem,” he said.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said that the results showed that DAP was more accepted by the Malays.

“The acceptance by Malay voters is higher. For example, there were several Malay polling districts where I had won.

“In DUN Chennah, I reckon that Malay support had exceeded 40%,” he said.

He added that the state lineup was diverse and had the expertise to work.

“We also have two Federal ministers in me and Tok Mat (Datuk Seri Mohammad Hassan) in this state. And for sure we will give our full support to the state government to build Negri Sembilan,” he said.

In his speech earlier, the caretaker mentri besar said that the “31-5 victory” here was due to the teamwork of both coalitions.

“We moved together and we won together. This is history we made together.

“This is the results and even though we lost five seats we will work hard to ensure these seats will be won back in the next election.

“I thank you for the sacrifice made by our election machinery and this is the best team we have at this moment.

“We have a two-thirds majority now with various backgrounds and professions and with this, I am certain we will be able to govern the state better,” he said.

Negri Sembilan Umno chief Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said that the victory was a sign that there is an understanding between the two coalition.

“God willing this partnership and understanding will be translated to the people of Negri Sembilan for the next five years,” he said.
