KOTA KINABALU: In preparation for the upcoming state elections, Sabah Umno machinery, led by Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, is ready to provide assistance in campaign efforts in the peninsula, with a specific focus on Selangor. Bung Moktar stated that the Sabah Umno machinery is also prepared to lend support to other states as required. With their strength, they are committed to ensuring victory for Barisan Nasional and unity government candidates. The decision regarding the number of Sabah Umno leaders and machinery to be involved in the campaign will be made after discussions with the state Umno leadership,” he said in a statement issued on Monday (July 10).
The Election Commission (EC) has scheduled the elections in Penang, Kedah, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan, and Terengganu to be held on Aug 12, with nomination day set on July 29 and early voting on Aug 8. Bung Moktar added that Sabah Umno will strategically plan an effective campaign, similar to the campaigns conducted during the state polls in Melaka and Johor. He emphasized that the focus will be on house-to-house campaigns, which have proven to be more effective than rallies, despite the vast area coverage in Selangor.
“We will have more house-to-house campaigns instead of holding rallies even though Selangor covers a vast area because house-to-house campaigns are more effective,” Bung Mokhtar said. Presently, Sabah Umno has a total of 583,979 members, according to Bung Mokhtar, who is also a member of the Umno supreme council. – Bernama
