GEORGE TOWN: Padang Kota candidate Chow Kon Yeow (pic) said voting has been going smoothly since Saturday (Aug 12) morning.
“Today is the day for Penangites to decide who they want to lead them for the next five years.
“Last night’s final ceramah in Karpal Singh Drive was the biggest and nothing untoward was reported.
“It was held in line with the democratic spirit, and it was good to see so many people coming out to support the Pakatan Harapan unity candidates,” he told reporters after voting at SJKC Hu Yew Seah in Jalan Madras.
Also present was Komtar candidate Teh Lai Heng, who estimated that voter turnout will reach 70% by the close of polling day at 6pm.
Chow Kon Yeow, the candidate for Padang Kota in George Town, stated that the voting process has been running smoothly since Saturday morning. He emphasized that this is the day for the people of Penang to decide on their leaders for the next five years. He further reported that the final ceramah (political rally) held at Karpal Singh Drive was the largest, and there were no negative incidents during the event. Chow mentioned that the ceramah adhered to democratic principles and expressed his satisfaction with the vast turnout in support of the Pakatan Harapan unity candidates. He shared these remarks with reporters after casting his vote at SJKC Hu Yew Seah located at Jalan Madras. Teh Lai Heng, the candidate for Komtar, was also present and stated that he expects the voter turnout to reach 70% by the end of the polling day.
