The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, has urged an end to acts that aim to find faults, humiliate, spread slanders, and conspire against one another in order to create a calmer and more prosperous country. He emphasized the importance of merging feelings of humanity and being humanitarian, and reflecting these values in both words and actions. Sultan Nazrin made these remarks during the Perak Darul Ridzuan Pledge of Loyalty and Investiture Ceremony held at Istana Iskandariah on Sunday (Nov 5), in conjunction with his 67th birthday.
Accompanied by the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, Sultan Nazrin addressed the ceremony, which was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. His Highness urged the Mentri Besar and members of the executive council to remain steadfast in upholding the trust placed upon them, stressing the importance of not disappointing the mandate given by the people in the pursuit of the state’s prosperity and the well-being of its citizens. Sultan Nazrin also highlighted the responsibility of understanding the pulse of the people, intelligently defining events, identifying the truth, and fulfilling the hopes of the people for a government based on law, integrity, and without corruption or abuse of power.
The Sultan expressed the need for various entities and organizations, such as the state assembly, judges, scholars, Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police, and other uniformed bodies, to work together in realizing this responsibility. He also called on the private sector, voluntary bodies, charitable organizations, youth groups, sports bodies, and the people as a whole to cooperate with each other in complementing the development efforts undertaken by the government. Sultan Nazrin emphasized the significance of collective action in achieving progress and well-being for all.
