Twenty-two candidates from the “haunted mansion” school in Melaka have achieved outstanding results in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2022 examination. According to Mak Chee Kin, the chairman of the Tun Fatimah Form Six College Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), the school has the highest number of candidates with a perfect 4.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) among all schools in the state.

The college, located in Durian Daun, also had nine candidates who obtained a CGPA of 3.70 and above. Additionally, one student named Gee Wei Nee received the national STPM Best Student Award, bringing pride to the college.

Despite facing numerous challenges, the college managed to achieve this remarkable success. Mak Chee Kin expressed hope that the Education Ministry would prioritize upgrading the school’s facilities. He highlighted that both teachers and students had worked tirelessly, even in the face of a dilapidated infrastructure and a lack of proper facilities.

In an article published on April 26, The Star shed light on the deplorable condition of the college, comparing it to a “haunted mansion.” Students have experienced windows falling apart and ceilings collapsing during classes. The college’s management has persistently sought assistance to create a safe and conducive environment, but their efforts have yet to yield results.

The college faces various issues, including leaky pipes, water supply problems, termite infestation, an unusable basketball court, parking difficulties, and even flash floods. Originally built in the 1960s as a secondary school, the building was later repurposed into a Form Six college due to low enrolment.
