KUALA KRAI: Yayasan Bank Rakyat (YBR) is covering the tuition fees for 14-year-old student Muhammad Adam Aizad Mazlan, who has taken on the responsibility of caring for his ill parents. YBR general manager Syaiful Rizal Abdul Ghani stated that the foundation encourages any schools or tuition centers in Kuala Krai to contact YBR in order to find appropriate means to support the student’s education despite the challenges he currently faces. He mentioned, “We (YBR) are willing to incur any expenses necessary to ensure that Muhammad Adam does not lag behind in his studies. We are concerned because he frequently misses school to care for his parents. If there is a school or organization with a strategy to aid Muhammad Adam in revising his lessons at home, please reach out to us.” Syaiful Rizal revealed this while speaking to reporters after delivering a donation to Rahayu Daud, Muhammad Adam’s mother, at their residence in Kampung Batu Jong on Sunday, September 10.

Earlier reports disclosed that Muhammad Adam has been caring for his mother, who has stage five kidney disease, for over a year, and his father, Mazlan Latif, 59, who suffered a stroke in August of last year. Syaiful Rizal stated that YBR decided to extend assistance to Muhammad Adam as he is a promising student and a dutiful son. He said, “Today, we provided RM5,000 to assist Rahayu and her husband with the expenses for follow-up medical examinations, dialysis, and medications, as they do not have a source of income. She has also lost the vision in her left eye and cannot work, relying solely on public support and donations,” Syaiful Rizal added.

Meanwhile, Rahayu expressed her family’s gratitude towards all the concerned contributors. She said, “Thanks to the public’s donations, I underwent eye surgery in July, which allowed me to regain my independence and take care of my husband, who is bedridden due to a stroke. My vision was affected by diabetes and high blood pressure,” she added. – Bernama
