The issue of student overcrowding at SK Cyberjaya is currently being addressed through a number of measures. This includes the dispersal of students and the construction of a new school, SK Cyberjaya (2), which is projected to be finished by 2028. The Education Ministry (MOE) has announced that the SK Cyberjaya (2) project has been approved as a long-term solution, and is currently in the procurement process.
The new school is set to have 36 classrooms and other necessary facilities, with a design-and-build approach to expedite the construction process. The completion date for SK Cyberjaya (2) is expected to be in 2028. In addition to this long-term solution, there are also short-term measures being implemented to alleviate the overcrowding issue at the current school.
One of these short-term solutions includes the dispersal of Year One pupils from SK Cyberjaya to nearby schools. Furthermore, the ministry has approved the construction of 12 additional classroom cabins to provide temporary relief to the overcrowded school. The MOE has also outlined other plans to address the issue in Cyberjaya, such as the proposed construction of a new secondary school, SMK Cyberjaya (2).
The application for the construction of SMK Cyberjaya (2) will be made this year under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) First Rolling Plan (RP1) for completion in 2026. Additionally, plans for the land acquisition for the proposed SK Cyberjaya (3) will be submitted under the 13MP RP2 in 2025. These measures aim to provide a long-term and sustainable solution to the issue of student overcrowding in Cyberjaya. – Bernama
